The past few weeks have been a public relations disaster for Facebook and it shows in the massive consumer trust gap between the platform and other social media giants. Eighty-one per cent of Facebook users said that they had little to no confidence in Facebook to protect their data and privacy, according to preliminary results of Business Insider Intelligence’s 2018 Digital Trust survey. For context that’s a margin of 24 percentage points when compared to the average of how consumers ranked Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Twitter, and YouTube.
