Have you ever wondered what it takes to make a Kit Kat from scratch? It takes a lot.
Pastry chef Claire Saffitz from Bon Appétit attempted to make a gourmet version of the chocolate snack without a recipe for its series Gourmet Makes. Instead, she reverse engineered every piece of a Kit Kat, from its milk chocolate exterior to its delicate wafer center. Her method includes meticulously separating the wafer from the chocolate and experimenting with chocolate textures.
Who knew it would take so many tries to get the Kit Kat’s wafer just right?
